The Phi Phi Islands

If you don't like crowds of tourists, then a yacht charter is essential in order to enjoy The Phi Phi Islands. Phi Phi Leh and Phi Phi Don are two impressive islands that were firmly stamped on the tourist map when Maya Bay took the world by storm in 1999. As soon as the World knew this was where the film "The Beach" was made, tourists starting flocking to the islands to witness the picture postcard scenes they had seen on the big screen.

Phi Phi Leh is the smaller of the two and remains uninhabited to this day, while Phi Phi Don has developed into a popular tourist destination to cater for backpackers and tourists who want to walk in the footsteps of Leonardo DiCaprio. Enjoy the crowds or escape the crowds, it's up to you. That's the beauty of chartering a yacht!

The waters surrounding these islands and their neighbours of Bida Nok and Bida Nai are rich in marine life with amazing coral gardens and thousands upon thousands of fish. Seahorses, leopard sharks, turtles, and even the elusive whalesharks have all been known to show their faces here.

Special things to do

Sail around the impressive high rising walls of Phi Phi Leh and Phi Phi Don, and be one of the fortunate few to experience Maya Bay when no one else is there. Swim, snorkel or take part in a rendezvous dive trip. Enjoy Phi Phi Don's buzzing nightlife, or unwind at the anchorage of Maya Bay to watch the sunset against the tranquil backdrop of uninhabited Phi Phi Leh.

Sailing Seasons

Phuket and the surrounding areas are best known as a ‘winter’ destination amongst package holidaymakers looking for constant sunshine. But the ‘summer’ months - Phuket and Phang-nga’s ‘green season’ – offer perfect conditions for keen sailors who want something more than a gentle cruise between idyllic islands.

From May through to October, the southwest monsoon brings with it reliable winds averaging 12 knots. Spells of brilliant clear blue skies are interspersed with occasional showers – and temperatures are never lower than 25'C. Phuket Race Week, held in July each year, is timed to take advantage of the green season’s perfect sailing weather and presents the perfect opportunity to combine a few days yacht racing with cruising Phang Nga Bay under sail.

Marinas

Phuket is home two two marinas:
Yacht Haven Marina, 8km from Phuket International Airport and base of most of the yachts.
Boat Lagoon Marina, 20 km from the airport.

Lanta Sailing – The Most Distinctive Sailing Company in the Krabi Province
with Boats from Koh Lanta, Krabi, Phuket and Langkawi.
